Why does He eat with tax collectors and sinners? Mark 2:16.
If you study Jesus' ministry you will see that He did not spend all of His time in the church fellowshipping with other Christians. Jesus spent His time ministering to the tax collectors and sinners. Those who the priests and pharisees thought were unclean or unworthy of their time.
Unfortunately this is where many Christians are today. They go to church on Sunday and they fellowship with those who they deem worthy of their time when in reality it is the tax collectors and sinners that need to hear the good news. Christians today have become so comfortable in their extravagant church buildings, sitting in their comfortable cushioned chairs in the beautifully adorned sanctuaries that they have forgotten the command that Jesus gave us all. Jesus said to "go into all the world and make disciples". The key word here is to "go".
Going means to get up and get out of the church building. It is to make a physical move and get out in to the world where the sick, the sinner, and the hurting live. You will never reach them from inside the church. You must be "the church" and go out and reach them.
With all that is happening in the world right now, Christians MUST begin to go into all the world and spread the gospel to those who need it. Sitting in the pew on Sunday mornings is great for getting fed but it does nothing for the tax collectors and the sinners. Men of God, YOU must go.
Make a commitment today to follow Jesus' example and to eat with tax collectors and sinners. Get up, get out, and make disciples.
